A look back at our participation at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, where Buddy, our companion robot, was at the heart of discussions on healthy ageing.
From February 13 to 15, 2026, Blue Frog Robotics took part in the Health Innovation Days at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris. This was an opportunity to showcase Buddy, our companion robot designed for older adults, to an audience seeking practical solutions to the challenges of healthy ageing.
Here’s a look back at three days of discussions, live demonstrations, and meaningful encounters that strongly reinforced our mission.
Health Innovation Days: A Must-Attend Event
Now in its third edition, the Health Innovation Days have become an annual gathering at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, bringing together researchers, healthcare professionals, innovators, and the general public around a shared question: how can we live longer, better? Once again this year, the event took place at the Cité de la Santé, a specialized library located on level -1 of the Cité des Sciences, from February 13 to 15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission was entirely free—a strong statement reflecting the organizers’ commitment to reaching as wide an audience as possible. Families, seniors, medical students, healthcare professionals, and directors of care facilities were all able to explore the stands freely, attend conferences, and take part in hands-on workshops.
This 2026 edition builds on the Decade of Healthy Ageing 2021–2030 led by the World Health Organization. On the agenda: a life-sized “Healthy Ageing Home,” a Silver Geek village dedicated to intergenerational activities, roundtable discussions with experts in geriatrics and ethics, as well as numerous technology demonstrations—including Buddy, our robot designed for older adults.

Isolation, loss of independence, caregiver burden: challenges that can no longer wait
In France, more than 16 million people are now aged 65 and over. By 2040, this figure is expected to exceed 20 million. Social isolation among older adults is now recognised as a major public health risk. Nearly one in four seniors report feeling lonely on a regular basis, while the vast majority express a wish to remain at home for as long as possible.
It is within this space between desired independence and necessary safety that Buddy, our companion robot designed for older adults, is built to step in. Not to replace human connection, but to extend it, support it, and help make it safer in everyday life.
Buddy: More Than a Robot, a True Everyday Companion
Developed by Blue Frog Robotics, Buddy is a robot designed for older adults, conceived from the outset to be accessible, endearing, and genuinely useful. Its expressive design—with a screen as a face capable of displaying emotions—enables natural interaction, even for users who are not comfortable with technology. It moves autonomously, recharges itself, and gradually adapts to its user’s habits.
Maintaining connection and ensuring safety
Buddy enables video calls to be made and received in just a few seconds. It monitors the environment, detects unusual situations, and sends real-time alerts, providing safety for families and greater independence for older adults.
Stimulating cognitive abilities:
Buddy offers quizzes, memory games, and AI-guided conversations to help maintain mental agility. It adapts its interactions to each user’s level and preferences.
A reassuring and caring presence:
Buddy embodies a warm presence through its expressive design and gentle voice. It can recognise emotions, reduce anxiety, break loneliness, and help restore confidence for older adults living alone
In both care facilities and at home, Buddy adapts to its environment. In nursing homes and independent living residences, it can schedule medication reminders, host group activities, or enable remote medical consultations. At home, it becomes a central point of contact between older adults, their families, and caregivers.
Three days of meetings and demonstrations
At our booth, Buddy was literally at the center. Visitors were free to approach it, talk to it, and watch it move and respond. For many, it was their first encounter with a companion robot. And almost invariably, the same reaction followed: initial hesitation, then curiosity, and finally a smile.
Towards service robotics that strengthens human connection
These three days at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie reminded us why we do what we do: to respond to a profound human need—to stay connected with loved ones, feel safe, and continue living life to the fullest.
Robots designed for older adults are no longer a concept of the future. They are a reality today, improving with every new user feedback. We are no longer talking about a dystopian technology, but about a companion robot that gives people time, peace of mind, and helps everyone remain themselves for longer.
It is this vision that Blue Frog Robotics continues to carry forward, from event to event, and from encounter to encounter.
